University of Sao Paulo (USP) - site
The University of Sao Paulo is the largest higher education and research institution in Brazil. USP is composed of seven campi that offers 230 undergraduate courses and 57,000 undergraduate students. Graduate studies at USP, with more than 500 fields of concentration areas (MAs and PhDs) and approximately 38,000 students, are an international point of reference for Science and Technology in Brazil.

Department of Infectious Disease (DID), Faculty of Medicine FMUSP - site
The DID department is in charge of teaching pathology and clinical features of the most prevalent diseases caused by viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoan and helminthic agents to undergraduate students of the FMUSP and to medical residents pursuing a professional career in this specialty. Educational activities are conducted in a broad range of health services within the FMUSP Academic Health System that comprises a continuum of primary, secondary and tertiary care. At its highest complexity level activities - consisting of outpatient, inpatient, and intensive care - are carried out at the Division of Infectious Diseases of the University hospital (Hospital das Clínicas). Supporting clinical services include a multidisciplinary HIV/AIDS clinic, expert consultant teams in hospital infections, as well as in infections in immunocompromised hosts and an immunization and travel medicine clinic. An affiliated Tropical Medicine Unit, located in the city of Santarém (Pará State), serves as training center in endemic diseases in the Amazon environment. The Department is also involved in education to graduate students, enrolled in its Masters of Science and PhD programs. Faculty staff is composed of two Full Professors, seven Associate Professors and eight Assistant Professors who work in close association with 50 physicians affiliated to the Hospital das Clinicas Infectious Diseases Division.

Institute of Tropical Medicine (IMT) - site
Was created in 1959 to support Tropical Disease research. It is an interdisciplinary Institute with Scientists associated with the Department of Infectious Disease, Pathology, Public Health, Dermatology and Internal Medicine of the FMUSP. It has also a pos graduation course on International Health and Tropical Disease. It is composed of 2 buildings of app. 3000 m2 each, with 10 research groups on: Protozoology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Bacteriology, Helminthology, Immune Pathology, Seroepidemiology, Tropical Dermatology, Vaccine and Tropical Gastroenterology. The institute is responsible for publishing one of the oldest Brazilian Journals that is in the ISIS contents (Revista do Institute de Medicina Tropical).

Hospital das Clinicas - site
Is a Hospital complex approximately 2,200 beds in different specialties in an are of about 300,000 m2, divided in more than 10 Institutes. A total of 6,000 patients are evaluated in the emergency hospital The Heart Institute is one of the main sections with 500 beds. The hospital is also dedicated to train phicisians and has 50 research laboratories that give support to the Medical School Research.

Institute of Mathematics and Statistics/ Department of Computer Science - site
The Department of Computer Science, IME / USP is a center for teaching, research and extension, internationally recognized for its excellence. In addition to the Bachelor of Computer Science (BCC), are offered training courses, specialization, master's and doctoral degrees. The Bachelor of Computer Science is one of the country's oldest, established in 1972, having trained over 1100 professionals. Several former students currently serving in positions in research institutes and technology companies. The master's and doctorate in the department have been noted for its solid scientific and result in theses and dissertations of high quality. Several works were awarded for the Contest Thesis SBC, the Latin American Competition Thesis Mastery of the CLEI and the competition for best doctoral thesis in Computer Science from CAPES. The Department has active researchers in various areas of Computer Science and is mostly recognized for its productivity by CNPq. The results of their research are published in international journals and conferences. Their teachers are authors and organizers of several scientific books, technical and didactic. Recently, the Department was awarded funds from FINEP and USP to the Rectory of the construction of a new building to host the Competence Center for Free Software. The DATA group (http://www.data.ime.usp.br) has developed systems for the REDS II study and for the Brazilian Ministry of Health AIDS system.

Federal University of Minas Gerais - site
The Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) is the one of the five largest higher education and research institution in Brazil. UFMG is composed of two campi that offers 80 undergraduate courses and 25,000 undergraduate students. Graduate studies are well-developed at UFMG, with more than 123 fields of concentration areas (MAs and PhDs) and approximately 13,000 students. With 732 research groups and more than 15,000 scientific publications each year, UFMG has a leader role in research among Brazilian Universities.

Hospital das Clínicas da UFMG - site
Is the University Hospital, composed by seven units and has 500 beds. It is one of largest hospitals of Minas Gerais state and is a tertiary reference for several specialties, including transplantations, neurosurgery and cardiac surgery. Each year, there are 20,000 hospital admissions and 400,000 medical consultations. The hospital is dedicated to train physicians (more than 400 medical residents) and students from the courses of the health professions. The Center for TeleHealth is located at the Hospital das Clínicas da UFMG and is the coordinator of the Teleassistance Network of Minas Gerais, a telehealth service implemented in 608 municipalities in the state corresponding to 732 sites, which, since 2006, conducted over 20,000 teleconsultations and 600,000 ECGs analysis.

Faculty of Medicine, UFMG - site
One of the oldest and largest Schools of Medicine in Brazil, has more than 400 hundreds professors and associate professors, 2,000 undergraduate and 400 graduate (MsSc and PhD) students. The Graduation Course of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine is top ranked among other Brazilian courses (level 7 for Brazilian Graduation Agency – CAPES) and has a long tradition in research in neglected diseases, as Chagas disease, schistosomiasis, leishmaniaisis, leprosy, AIDS, hepatitis, and others. The annual scientific production of the research team (15 professors and associate professors) is now more than a hundred indexed articles a year and, from 1974 to 2010, the course graduated 197 MsSc and 92 PhD students.
